It's finally starting to feel like fall again in Northeast Louisiana, and there are tons of upcoming activities in the area to enjoy! I have listed some for this upcoming weekend that I think are super fun, and I may be attending! Fun fall poll at the end of the article!

Thursday, October 12
The Skeletons on Tower Dr in Monroe are sponsered by local businesses and groups. It is a collection of 12 ft skeletons, all dressed up, some with different themes. They will be up through the whole month of October for anyone to drive through for free and check out!

Friday, October 13
When looking up things to do on Friday the 13th, I discovered the Monroe Mashup Scavenger Hunt, and it looks pretty neat! Starting at 11am at CC's Coffee House on Tower Dr in Monroe, spend two hours doing a local scavenger hunt. The game alternates between indoors and outdoors and is family and dog friendly. Tickets are $24 for this event.
Saturday, October 14

Spend your Saturday morning at Black Bayou Lake National Wildlife Refuge doing the Mushroom March! Join locals for a 2-mile hike along part of the Edgewater trailer, searching for local Louisiana fungi, as early fall is an active time for mushrooms. They will meet at 9am in the boat ramp parking lot. Long pants and close-toed shoes are recommended, as part of the trail is unimproved.
Are you a local artist? After the Mushroom March, head to the The River Market to participate in the en plein air session. The River Market has this on the second Saturday of every month from noon to whenever. Bring your creative outlet and feel inspired to practive a new skill or finish previous work.
Need some local fruits and veggies? Head to Market on the Square from 9am-2pm. This is located at Farmer’s Market at Seventh Square at 1700 N 7th St in West Monroe.

Join NELA Pride at the Family Fall Festival between 1pm and 5pm for crafts, games, trick or treating, yummy food, cool photo-ops, and local vendors! The event is happening in the yard of Northminster Church at 2701 Lamy Ln, Monroe.
Close out your night watching me and other Roe City Roller Derby members participate in Blocktoberfest 2023! Doors open at 4pm with a rookie game at 4:30pm and a vet game at 7:30pm. There will be a beer garden and local food trucks! This event will be at the Monroe Civic Center at 401 Lea Joyoner Memorial Expy Monroe. See you there!

Sunday, October 15

After a busy Saturday, spend your afternoon celebrating the birthday of Emy-Lou Biedenharn at the Emy-Lou Biedenharn Birthday Tea from 2pm-4pm. This will be at Biedenharn Museum and Gardens at 2006 Riverside Dr in Monroe and tickets are $35.
Also at the Monroe Civic Center is The Blues is Alright Tour from 6pm to 8pm. There are five amazing artists in the lineup, so be sure to check it out!
