Hellllloooooooo everyone!
I recently had my first child and it was an experience to say the least. I am going to share my birth story from the day before to when Maverick was born.
So in October, I had to start going to the doctor every two weeks, because I was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes. Maverick was also breech (upside down) so they were keeping an eye on that as well. I was planning on working my last two shifts on Wednesday, December
7th and Thursday, the 8th and the C-section was going to be scheduled for the following week. On December 7th, I had an appointment before work. It was right at my 37 week mark. At that appointment, my blood pressure was pretty high and they were worried about
preeclampsia. She said I was to be on bedrest until my C-section. I told her I only had two days left at work, and I sit the whole shift. She said I could go to work if I monitored my blood pressure the whole time and if it got too high, to go straight to Labor & Delivery. They also took a urine sample so they could see if my protein levels were high. She said I could go to work but if my protein levels came back too high on Thursday, then I'd have to go straight to L&D.

So I went to work Wednesday night until 6 a.m. on Thursday morning. I went to sleep at about 6:45 a.m. I slept until about 1:30 p.m. and I called the doctor to check on my protein levels. They said the nurse would call me back with the results. Anyway, I started to feel leaking kind of when I started walking around. I wasn't sure if my water had broken or not. I called John at work and then my mom and said my water may have broken and I might have to go to the hospital. I said I'd take a shower and see how I felt after that. After my shower, I was walking around the house and my water definitely broke in the kitchen. Like started gushing and did not stop. I called my mom and John back at around 2:15 p.m. and was like 'welp, it's happening.' My mom started driving from Florida and John left work. I stuck a towel in my underwear, put on sweatpants, and John and I were on the way to the hospital before 3 o'clock.
When we first got there, we walked into the main entrance and the man at the desk asked for a name. We gave him my name and after two minutes he realized I was in labor and let us in. The next person we talked to was the registration lady. I'm not sure how long we were in her office, but the first thing she said was "I can't clock in for two more minutes, because

they've been onto us for having too much time." MA'AM I'M ABOUT TO LEAK ONTO YOUR CHAIR. Anyway, she was the nicest lady in the world; she just liked to talk and talk and talk and I was in active labor soooo yeah. I told her it would be a C-section because the baby is still breech. She finally took us to the first room at about 3:45 p.m. (picture included).
After that, a nurse came in and introduced herself and did a test to see if it was actually amniotic fluid that I was leaking. She said it would take about 20 minutes for the test to come back, however it lit up in literally ten seconds. She said "congrats, you're in labor, you're not leaving."
I told her I was breech before she checked to see how far dilated I was. She said I was about 2.5cm (the same I was at the doctor the day before) and that she could feel his head. No ma'am, you can't feel his head because he is still breech... I told her that's probably his
butt because I didn't think he had flipped since the ultrasound the day

before, and I could still feel his big head near the top of my stomach by the ribs. (It was his butt that she felt, he was still breech...)
So I was chilling in the room with an IV, a heart rate monitor, and a blood pressure monitor on, as well as an Electronic Fetal Monitor (EFM) to track the baby's heart rate and my contractions. I had a super big contraction at about 5:20 p.m. and the nurse came and said the contraction stopped the baby's heart for a second. She said we would just wait monitor his heart rate. At about 5:40, she came and checked on me again and said that the doctor is currently delivering another baby, but I am next in line for the c-section and it would be about an hour.
I had another big contraction close to 6 p.m. and that's when the nurse came back and made me get on my hands and knees and I was being rushed back to the operating room because the baby had stopped breathing again. They told John to wait outside the room. The doctor's were trying to decide if I needed to be put to sleep or not. When I got to the operating room, they sat me down and looked at the EFM again, and the baby started breathing, so they decided not to put me to sleep. They gave me the epidural for the surgery and then let John come in the room. They did the C-section and his head was a little big and I could feel the pressure of them pushing on my stomach. He came out crying at 6:48 p.m. and they took him over to be checked out and weighed/measured. John went with him and took pictures while they took out my placenta and stitched me back up. Maverick was six pounds, 14 ounces, and 20 inches long.
They gave Maverick to John with the rubber sucker thing and basically said 'good luck' lol. They brought all of us into a tiny room with just a curtain until about 8:30 p.m. while they monitored my heart rate and blood pressure until a room opened up. My mom got there at about 11 p.m.
Maverick and I both got discharged Saturday afternoon after two nights in the hospital.
So that's my birth story. I have a couple more stories about the hospital, like how Maverick was almost switched at birth... soooo let me know if you want me to tell you about that. :-)
Thanks for reading!!!<3
